The author's name is Catherine but she prefers to be called Cathy or Cat. Cathy began writing as a young child of about seven years. She wrote poetry primarily until high school. As a sophomore in high school she shifted to other writing genres and wrote a full length play. It may also be considered her first attempt at a novel.
Cathy continued writing poetry but did not attempt any other styles until college. While in college she wrote a one-act and a three-act play as well as the first of many children's stories. These were written for young children just beginning to read.
Her first true novel was written in 2019. It had not been the author's intention to write a novel. She had an idea for a series of short children's books. Cathy began writing and it exploded into a novel. Two more followed in the same series. She then added a cookbook and then compiled her short children's stories into a single volume set.
Her children's stories are primarily for young children. While the novels have a wider base. They can be enjoyed by late elementary ages up to adults. She has not compiled the poetry for publication at this time although this is a possibility down the road.
Cathy's novels are written in a similar manner as the Laura Ingalls Wilder books. However, they are set in modern times. They are faith based so there is nothing to prevent them from being read by anyone.
Cathy holds a Masters of Divinity from Seminary. This and being raised by a minister has helped form the values and beliefs that are central to her stories. While they have a faith basis, they are not books on religion. There are themes that are founded in reality and even those who do not attend structured religious services can still enjoy them.
The novels are set in a fictional midwestern town. The characters are all fictional with no real-life basis. However, it is easy to find oneself caught up in and imagining life in this idyllic community. The author has created the family trees for the major characters and has also drawn a map of the entire town as it appears in the books.
She hopes that you Dear Reader enjoy reading these stories as much as she enjoyed and continues to enjoy writing them.
